Karen Joy  | Associate Director, Communications

Ms. Joy has fourteen years of health research experience, largely in support of private industry. While Karen has experience in multiple areas of outcomes research, her area of expertise is in Communications. Her focus is on value-based analytic and strategic research and writing, utilizing information on the burden of illness, clinical, economic, and patient outcomes data, as well as the clinical practice environment, and pricing and reimbursement realities in the global market, to develop and support a product’s value at launch and beyond.

Prior to joining ValueMedics Research, Karen was Project Manager in the Outcomes Research Unit at PAREXEL International, a large contract research organization. There, she conducted and directed many types of outcomes research projects, including pharmacoeconomic models, economic environment assessments, economic message testing, clinical and economic literature reviews and payer mixes. Karen was also the manager of quality-of-life projects, conducting research and coordinating the necessary resources to execute quality-of-life studies.

Previously, Karen worked for Value Health Sciences (now Constella), conducting retrospective data research for the FDA and pharmaceutical companies to study drug effectiveness and safety, using 10 million patients’ health claims.

Prior to working in health outcomes research, Karen worked in the human resource industry where she specialized in health benefits at an international consulting company. Karen earned her B.A. from the University of Massachusetts in Psychology with a concentration in Economics
