Dr. Hussein works as an associate director
of outcomes research and pharmacoeconomics at ValueMedics Research,
LLC, a healthcare research and consulting firm in Falls Church,
Virginia. His primary responsibilities are to provide leadership
and support for the design and execution of research projects
in a variety of disease states and serve as consultant to pharmaceutical
clients to help them form and find the answer to their research
questions. Dr. Hussein contributes strong skills in experimental
design, analysis of large administrative databases, decision
analyses, statistical modeling, and cost effectiveness analyses.
Besides his strong leadership and analytical skills, he has
a deep understanding of the dynamics of the healthcare system
from a managed care perspective.
Prior to joining ValueMedics Research,
Dr. Hussein worked for several years as a principal biostatistician
in the Outcomes Research Center at Humana Inc., a large healthcare
benefit company. There he developed, designed, conducted, and
published numerous outcomes research studies in areas such
as patient drug compliance, adherence to therapy guidelines,
and burden of illness. His research encompassed a wide array
of disease states including diabetes, cancer, dyslipidemia,
schizophrenia, autism, obesity, and asthma.
Earlier in his
career Dr. Hussein worked as project manager of technology
in research and development at the Egyptian cabinet Information
and Decision Support Center (IDSC). There he was responsible
for the design and implementation of state of the art interactive
applications which utilized various technologies such as
text to speech and speech recognition to facilitate critical
information
access for key cabinet decision makers.
Dr. Hussein also
worked as a marketing research analyst at Rhone-Poulenc Rorer,
Inc.
(Currently known as Aventis Pharma). During his employment
he developed and implemented primary marketing research
tools to assess specific questions related to product performance
and its strategic direction/positioning.
Prior to his work
in Rhon-Poulenc he worked as a system developer at the
Animal
Health Research Institute (AHRI). His responsibilities
encompassed designing, coding, implementation, and documentation
of various
laboratory software systems that analyzed data produced
by clinical devices such as ELISA readers and DNA synthesizers.
Dr. Hussein is an active member of the
International Society of Pharmacoeconomics Outcomes Research
(ISPOR) where
he
serves
as a chair of the Retrospective Database Advocacy Group.
Additionally, he is a member of the American Statistical
Association, Society
for Medical Decision Making, and Journal of Managed
Care Pharmacy. Dr. Hussein Received his bachelor degree in
economics
and finance
from Ain Shames University School of Business, Cairo,
Egypt. Dr. Hussein received his MS in Computer Science from
University
of Louisville. Dr. Hussein also received his MS and
PhD. in Biostatistics and Decision Science from University
of
Louisville School of Public Health. |
